crippling and falling apart

I've made it no secret I don't like the dread from tutoring, i've decided to temporarily switch tutors in Term 3 and see if a 1:1 tutor is a vibe.

The main issue with tutoring for me is that it cripples my school-life balance, go to school, go home, do work/go to tutoring, cripple repeat. I don't have much money and I don't have much motivation which is bad.

Hi @yeah_it_tahtperson ,

First of all, well done on giving it a go. Group tutoring is certainly different to 1:1. The one hour 1:1 session may end up just as effective as 2 or more group sessions. I can hear how exhausting it can be to school-home-work-tutoring.

It sounds so tough to hear that you find tutoring "crippling" to your school-life balance. For many families, overseas, they may also have had the same routine (i.e. school-tutoring), and therefore may believe it will also benefit their children. Do you think there are any similarities there?

If you don't mind me asking, how many sessions/hrs of tutoring do you have a week?

I think there are similarities but doesn't offset the struggles whatsoever.

I do 3.5 hrs of tutoring a normal week, 2 hrs eng, 1.5 hrs maths, and i think 2 hrs especially is way too long. Ideally I'd sit 1 hr tutoring each as next semester I want to weave in economics tutoring too.

Hey @yeah_it_tahtperson ,

On top of school, it is understandable why an extra 3.5 hours can take its toll.

For one to do well academically, wellbeing must be taken in to consideration. Learning and wellbeing are interrelated. I hope you can find a tutor who work across subjects within the hour or as necessary so that it is quality time over quantity.

Whatever it is, you are giving it a go, and that's all anyone can ask.
