Hi everyone,
I just wanted to take the time this morning to check in with you all. Christmas is a time where there is so much pressure for no reason; It might feel like pressure to be happy, pressure to have a perfect day, or simply pressure to ‘show up’ and be present with others. Sometimes these pressures make me feel guilty for being sad, angry or worried etc. at this time of year. Like I’m not allowed to be anything but happy.
Whatever you may be feeling today, I just want you to know that it is completely valid. There is no one way to spend today, and if that means treating it like any typical weekday - that is perfectly fine. However you spend it, you deserve to be kind to yourself. Maybe you could eat your favourite food, watch your favourite movie, or do some other self-care activity for yourself. Please remember there are always people around to talk if you need: including all of us here on ReachOut, and the teams at Kids Helpline and Lifeline. It’s never weak to speak ❤️

One thing I did for myself yesterday/today was taking some time out of the day for myself, just to clear my head and ground myself so that I could have an enjoyable Christmas.

Merry Christmas! and what a thoughtful message that you had sent out. As with @Appel_banappel, I find it so important to make sure to know that there is no set way to feel on any day as everyone attach different meaning to different holidays or events and it doesn’t have to always be what people typically follow.
In any case, this was certainly a very refreshing post to see and as the day is coming to a close, I would say that I had done a good amount of language learning and cooking which was very fulfilling to me and made the day quite entertaining and worthwhile.
Finally, I hope that you are having a wonderful Christmas and/or taking care of and looking after yourself on this day 😊.
Hello @LilacLeopard14 thank you very much for the Christmas time check in. It's important we all do something nice for ourselves today and over the rest of the week as well. I know I'm going to do lots of water activities, along with some nice family time at home with prayers and joyfulness. 🎄⭐️

I can definitely relate to the pressure to be happy and the expectations on what today 'should' be like. I think my biggest mission is reminding myself that I'm the only person holding myself to these 'shoulds' and learning to let them go and replace them with things that would actually make this day fun for me.
One thing I did for myself today was spend this morning volunteering at an animal shelter which always brings a smile to my face and brightens up my day 🐾

One thing that I'll be doing for myself today is sitting down in bed and playing a videogame with my partner, it's a good way for me to de-stress after how busy it'll get today.
I think it's a great idea that you'll be staying in your pyjamas all day!

I’ll go first - one thing I’ve decided to do for myself today is stay in my pyjamas all day to be super comfortable and cosy 🥰
Thank you for such a beautiful and warm post @LilacLeopard14 ! One thing I will do for myself today is to do some hobbies like drawing or sewing! I find that they're really therapeutic!! 🎨
