Possible TW: Meaning of life

Hey guys! 🙂 So for the past 2 years of my life I have really struggled with putting my finger on a belief, my answer. I know no one knows for sure what happens after we die or why we are even here but I don’t even have an opinion on it! The thought of it being absolutely anything and never being able to know the truth has been so distressing for me and making it really hard for me to live my everyday life ‘normally’. Some days I think there is no purpose and that there is absolutely nothing, completely blankness after we die and other days I’m like, well life it’s self is a miracle! How could a human body work on its own without being hooked up to some electrical thing so there could be another miracle past this ‘life’. These thoughts are the second reason I don’t commit suicide as I’m so scared and so unsure as it could be anything. I would be really interested to hear what you all think about the big questions of life! Why do you think we are here? What do you think is past our life on earth? (If anything at all) Thank you 🙂

Hi @Bananatime04, these are some really big questions that I think everyone may ask themselves at one point or another in their life. The answer will differ for each person and the meaning may change from tiny to massive. Sometimes we cannot know the answer to everyone and that is okay. We don't have to have an opinion on everything. This can make these types of questions quite overwhelming and anxiety provoking for anyone. Instead, some people prefer to focus on the present and making the most of each day, no matter what the end may look like. You could try creating your own reason for being here and what your purpose is (for e.g helping others, teaching others and being well traveled etc). If you feel like this is really impacting your life, you could bring it up with someone who you trust Heart

Hi @Bananatime04

I agree with @Taylor-RO in that you are most definitely not alone in wondering about these big life questions. I have also wondered this many times before. The 'answer' to the big life question of what our purpose is and what happens after we die is definitely going to be different for everyone because it'll depend on personal values, beliefs, religion, life experience and lots of other things.

Personally, I'm a Christian but I can't say that I don't have moments where I get so confused and almost doubtful and unsure about things. This is where I think personal life experience can also affect how you think about these things and what your beliefs are. Mostly though, for me I try to think of it as the following- I'm living my life for the purpose of being able to help others and better myself. This broader but also in some ways narrow goal helps me focus back on the things that matter to me whenever I start to question these big things again. But yea, making smaller goals as well sometimes as your 'purpose' is helpful because it doesn't seem as pressuring or daunting, but can keep you grounded and point you towards a certain path Smiley Very Happy

Hope this helps! Heart
