Financial anxiety due to work changes

Hey, so my work recently have cut hours due to NDIS cuts. I’m feeling to punch because I’m experiencing a number of coexisting issues.,

main is the I’m worried it will be like loosing job due to shoulder dislocation again, which meant i lost my job and was left out to fend for self.

I’ve also got adhd medicated so my medical expenses are very high as it is.

I may also be putting too much financial stress on myself. Thought about financial counselling and have recommended it to others as I’m doing cert 4 in community services,

I have like 5 years of tafe and uni ahead of me. so I’m also concerned for my future with the cost of living.

Hi @Harrysnake,

It sounds really rough what you are going through, especially considering the number of coexisting issues that you are experiencing :((.

I think giving financial counselling a try can be a good idea.

On the other hand, I'm just wondering, would you be eligible for financial aid from the government? For example, you can get youth allowance for financial support if you are enrolled in tafe and uni full time and between 18-24 years old. I'm not trying to suggest relying on financial support from the government, but I'm wondering if having such support would help relieve some of your stress, especially considering the number of issues that you are dealing with.

Hope this helps :))

So I am on centerlink youth study. However currently haven’t gotten anything from them. As I earn over the gross amount.

Hey @Harrysnake

Thank you for sharing in your post here on the Forums!

I'm sorry to hear you have had you hours cut due to NDIS cuts and that must be really tough to deal with considering you previous experience with your shoulder. You are demonstrating your courage and strength reaching out here on the Forums and sharing your story with the community.

It sounds really sensible to go to see a financial counsellor and sounds like you know all about them already through your Cert IV in Community Services. We have some great resources here at ReachOut so I thought I would share some with you that you might find beneficial:

Sounds like you are experienced too and maybe you could explore other options for employment. However you decide to move forward ReachOut will be here to support you so please keep posting on the Forums and sharing your story with the community.

Take care

Pete-RO
