Gaming Chair vs Social Meetups
So my parents told me that instead of presents they'll just give me money, and tbh I don't have a problem with that.
With this mind, I'm questioning how I should spend this extra money (not too sure how much). I've been wanting a new chair for pretty much a year now, however, I'm considering if I should spend that extra money hanging out with my friends going bowling or ice-skating.
Looking ahead to January, I'm not too sure.

as an update for some reason my parents were willing to pay for my new chair, so that resolved itself 😛

Sounds a bit like a classic dilemma of tangible gifts versus experiences.
Im guessing you love gaming and having already waited for a whole year must be frustrating.
But also doing things and having experiences with friends is really nice too isnt it.
Wondering if it might be helpful to weigh up for yourself what is more important: a chair that provides comfort (and maybe ergonomics im not sure), or hanging out with friends doing things you all love.
Or maybe also having a chat with your folks and your friends around this a bit more - have you been able to ask them what they think?

I'm just wondering if your folks need help with any odd-jobs over the summer, and if so, would it be possible for you to earn some cash by covering some things for them. This might be a way to get the gaming chair and still be able to meetup with your friends.
Another option could be looking to see if there is anything free happening in your local area, so you and your friends don't have to worry about spending too much money.

that's a good idea, the main issue is we don't live particularly close to each other, though we might consider the free events nearby. just not sure if they're interested.

Christmas went well, caught up with family friends :).
I have made plans to catch with friends after New Years, about the gaming chair I might ask my parents if they'll buy one for me.
