Hey @lemurien 😊
As someone who also has ADHD, I relate to this so much! I was diagnosed just over a year ago, and for me the validation of that helped me sooo much. Like you say, it just clarifies that our 'normal' is not the same as a neurotypical 'normal' and it's allowed me to be so much kinder to myself. I think a lot of neurodivergent people tend to me really hard on themselves. Having that explanation of why everything felt so much harder for me, gave me the permisson to take things at my own pace, in my own way, which took a lot of pressure off.
It's really great to see you're going to see a psychiatrist and have the support of your psych too. For me it's definitely been a combination of the diagnosis, medication and ongoing support from my psychologist, that's really helped me. I can't say that there's not still days where I feel like I'm swimming against a current, because there definitely is. But! I do feel like there's usually a lifeboat I can rely on, strategies I can use to calm the current down a bit and a support system on the beach cheering me on ❤️
Do you have to wait long for your psychiatrist appointment? Is there anything in particular that you really struggle with? I'm happy to share some tips that have helped me if you'd like 😊
