Intrusive thoughts can be terrifying, even if you know they’re not necessarily based in reality. I found that actively trying to keep intrusive thoughts out of my head did the opposite. It seemed to be more helpful to acknowledge that it is just a thought, not a prediction of the future or a true representation of the way I feel. It is definitely easier said than done but in time it seems to get more manageable. Intrusive thoughts thrive off anxiety and attention so if you can find a way to not give them any weight, they may become more bearable. I’m sure the counsellor at school will have more advice. Good job reaching out. I really hope that your parents will gain a better understanding. It sounds really frustrating to not be taken seriously.
