It's interesting because I've been saying "it is what it is" a lot lately. I think I say it because if I've gotten to a point where I'm just not bothered, I just think whatever happens, happens. I just have to accept the situation for what it is and carry on. I use this saying a lot when it comes to study, work, relationships etc and like you mentioned, it's important to not waste time and energy into something if you can't change it
