I personally like black watches on bands xD I think they're sleek and modern but I suppose that isn't the issue.
I have personally been in a very similar situation and I felt the exact same. I can tell you for a fact that your frustration is definitely valid (I know mine was). As for some advice on the matter to maybe improve the whole situation (obviously this will depend on your family circumstances and so forth), I talked to a supportive family member about pretty much the same thing (another close family member's offensive language) and she was able to talk for me (because I am not fond of confrontation). Whilst this might not be the best approach, talking about it can definitely help people see other perspectives and refrain from talking/thinking in that sort of way (although it is up to you to decide whether this is the best course of action). Talking about it will probably not change their opinions immediately but it could definitely give you some relief.
