Hey @visions_9374 ,

After reading your post, it's really made me consider whether the kids are insensitive and want attention, or is it partly because they actually have no idea what they are saying? Sometimes, kids just latch on to new words and because there's a 'reaction', then they keep using it. For example, in the past, the word 'gay' was so misused.

Spoiler
e.g. 'that's gay'.

I'm saying this because as it was mentioned earlier, even younger siblings are using slurs that they know nothing about!

With a push for schools to become more inclusive, maybe this is a good time that such behaviours are called out - do you think so? Sometimes, it takes one to stand up and say something, for others to realise that their behaviour/language is actually causing offence.

Any thoughts?

Whatever it is, I can see why you'd find it annoying when kids use these slurs so insensitively.
