Death anxiety is really scary. It was something that I really struggled with. The thing I found helpful was thinking of death as me joining my loved ones that have passed away. Regardless of if there is anything after this or not, I will be with them again. A lot of the time death is the end of suffering so it’s the best option. Death is a big frightening unknown necessary part of life. Life wouldn’t be as valuable if you lived forever.
Something that stuck with me when it comes to death anxiety was from The Good Place:
“Picture a wave. In the ocean. You can see it, measure it, its height, the way the sunlight refracts when it passes through. And it's there. And you can see it, you know what it is. It's a wave.
And then it crashes in the shore, and it's gone. But the water is still there. The wave was just a different way for the water to be, for a little while. You know it's one conception of death for Buddhists: the wave returns to the ocean, where it came from and where it's supposed to be.”
I really hope you find something that helps your anxiety!
