 Hey @Lemon_Dolphin

Thanks for sharing! It’s a really daunting thing to see a counsellor for the first time. It’s also common for people to worry about their problems not being serious enough to warrant seeing someone and to worry about wasting the counsellor’s time. A good chunk of people who see a counsellor are ‘fine’, they like having a more objective perspective/opinion or like having someone who can listen without judgment.

Everyone can benefit from therapy, it’s more so a question of if they want to use it to improve things. Although therapy is about fixing problems, it is also about protecting wellbeing and building on the things that are already going well. You really don’t need to have something wrong to gain something from seeing a counsellor. Some of the most impactful therapy happens when you’re doing okay because you actually have the energy to implement the recommendations.

Therapy is always something you can stop doing if you find that you’re not gaining anything. Give it a go; if it’s not helpful that’s perfectly okay! You can always try it again later if things change or if you feel like you need extra support.

It’s a really brave decision to seek help and I hope everything goes well for you!
