Hey @Anonymous , thank you for sharing whats on your mind. I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through such a challenging time with your eating disorder. It's so important to recognise that you don't have to face this alone, and seeking help is a courageous step towards managing your eating disorder.
The fact that you're aware of the ED voice getting louder and that it's becoming overwhelming shows a significant level of self-awareness, which is crucial in the recovery process. It sounds like you are wanting to reach out for support with managing the ED voice and behaviours, but are unsure how to.
It's understandable that the fear of judgement is holding you back from seeking support, this is really common for people dealing with eating disorders. But please know that your feelings and experiences are completely valid, and you deserve to receive the support you need. (By the way - you’ve already managed to reach out and openly share your feelings here, which is a huge step in itself!)
I am wondering if you have ever reached out for support with your eating disorder at all before?
A helpful starting point for seeking support with an ED might be the Butterfly Foundation. They offer counselling support specifically for eating disorders through their helpline, webchat, email, and virtual support groups. There are also other support services that you can explore here.
Another support option, although not tailored specifically to eating disorders, is ReachOut’s Peer Chat service, where you can schedule a one-on-one chat with a peer worker.
Reaching out can also look like confiding in someone you trust, like a friend or your mum, who I recall you mentioning has been an amazing source of support for you.
I also just wanted to share a Weekly Well-Being thread featuring an RO mod who shared her lived experience with an eating disorder and how she managed it. If you’re up for the read, I recommend checking it out… and if you find these kinds of stories helpful, we have a few more on our website here that you might be interested in.
