Hi @Hug
Thank you so much for reaching out. I am sorry to hear this, it sounds like you are feeling very overwhelmed and discouraged which is completely normal in this current scenario. I hope it brings you comfort to know that many people, including myself, also feel as though their life is beyond their control at times.
1. Experiencing rejection of any kind is not a good feeling at all, especially as getting a job is one of your top priorities in 2024. I want to firstly commend you for achieving a Diploma of Hospitality, that shows incredible diligence on your behalf and displays how driven you are in terms of gaining employment. I completely understand that despite your clear commitment to work, experiencing rejection multiple times can deter and discourage you from applying to other job opportunities. I would like to ask if you have ever created a resume? If not, this would be a great idea! There are so many free resources online which can assist you in creating an aesthetically pleasing resume, and also an effective resume which would be targeted toward employers within the hospitality industry. My second question is, have you tried applying to your desired job in person? Regardless of the current outcomes in terms of rejected applications, I encourage you to keep applying for jobs!
2. From your paragraph I see that the thought of completing your driving lessons with an instructor makes you feel scared, do you fear judgement or incompatibility with your chosen instructor? Your feelings are completely normal and expected. However, one of your concerns highlighted in your post is achieving freedom, gaining your drivers license would allow for greater freedom! One of my suggestions is that you reframe the way you think about driving lessons, for example, participating in drivers lessons means you are taking the steps forward in gaining more freedom! I do advise that your chosen driving instructor (if you choose to move forward with lessons) is someone who you feel both comfortable and safe with.
3. It is very common for friends to become distant as each person develops their own routine and gains different interests, this is why you may feel isolated. I would like to ask if you have communicated this to your friends? If not, it could be a good idea and way to initiate outings with friends. You could always send them a message like, "Hey! I miss seeing you, let's organise a catch up!" You can always organise an activity in which you will mutually enjoy! It could be as simple as a walk in the park or going to a local cafe. In terms of making new friends, I wanted to clarify whether or not you are still in high-school? If so, it would be a good idea to branch out beyond your friend group and initiate conversation with people in your classes with whom you mutually enjoy spending time outside of the home!
4. When I feel incredibly overwhelmed my sleep routine tends to become a mess also. A good way to encourage yourself to both sleep and wake up on time is remind yourself how important sleep is! With a good sleep routine you will be more able to cope with all the pressure you are currently experiencing. Although this is easier said than done, especially if your mind tends to race before you sleep. When I am experiencing this, I put on a YouTube video or movie and lie in bed and slowly drift off to sleep. I see that you struggle with waking up on time also, I encourage you to wake up 5-10 minutes earlier per day or week until you feel comfortable enough to wake up even an hour earlier!
I want to reassure you that everything will eventually work itself out in time, nothing is achieved overnight. If you take small steps each day, for example, applying to one job per day and going to bed/sleeping earlier by 5-10 min. With each small step toward your goals, you will see just how capable you are in regaining control over your life! Do not punish yourself for when you fail to do so (take it one day at a time). I encourage you to praise yourself for your ambition and dedication! And most of all that you have chosen to reach out, showing a clear desire to move forward. Your goals are very important to you, but so is your wellbeing. Perhaps you need to engage in some self-care to reset. There is a community section on Reach Out dedicated to posts on self-care which you can check out also!
Hope this helps! Looking forward to hearing from you 😊
