Self-care toolkits - Dealing with stress and anxiety

Hello! 😊

 

I thought it would be helpful to hear from others their strategies for dealing with stress and anxiety, this might give you some ideas you can try next time! In the comments below list your top 2 healthy ways of coping with anxiety and stress!

 

For me, I've found I can't go straight into relaxation techniques, instead I need to move my body in a mindful way. Such as going for a walk while listening to my favourite podcast. This helps me keep things in perspective and have a more realistic mindset. After moving around, I can then do something calming, like reading a book with my cats or using a colouring-in book 😻

 

I've also found that having a range of different strategies has been important for me! I call this my Self-Care Toolkit. By having a wide variety of techniques in my toolkit, I have many different options for different situations and level of distress! I have my toolkit written down on a piece of paper so that when I have a physical copy to refer back to and get some ideas when needed. These techniques have a mix of energising techniques (like going for a walk or to a pilates class) as well as grounding techniques (such as patting my cats or using my weighted blanket).

 

Remember, everyone's way of dealing with stress and anxiety is unique to them. It might also take some time to figure out what works best for you!
