Hi @Pink_Clover
Thank you for reaching out. I can see that you’ve been going through a really tough time at the moment. With the stress of uni and the pressure from your parents, it’s understandable that you’re feeling lost and upset. It can be really difficult trying to manage the expectations of your parents. I think @Nymeria-RO has touched on some great strategies for navigating this conflict.
Figuring out what you want to do for a career can be really challenging. It's great you’ve realised that becoming a pharmacist may not be for you and that you’ve started to come up with an alternative plan. Acknowledging what you don’t want from a career is just as important as knowing what you do want. In saying that, what is it about pharmacy that you don’t enjoy? Are there aspects that you do enjoy? Figuring this out might bring you closer to a career you would be more interested in. This article on how to choose a career may also be helpful.
While trying to navigate this situation, I think it’s also super important to lean on your support system. You mentioned that your brother went through a similar experience with changing uni courses. It might be worthwhile asking him about his experience and what helped him decide to change courses. Chances are he will be understanding of your position and might have some advice for your next steps. You also mentioned that you have some great friends in your youth group. If you’re comfortable, I think it could be helpful to have a chat with them about how you’re feeling and have their support to help you get through this.
You’re still early in your degree and there’s plenty of time to change courses if that’s what you decide. At the end of the day, this is your life and you deserve to spend it doing a career that interests you.
