Hey there @Blueberry_Pidgeon

Thank you for sharing your challenges and what you are currently going through as it is not easy to open up, so welcome to our community, we are glad to have you and we are happy to support you through this hard time. 💜😊

First of all I want to say how amazing it is that you took this big leap of faith to move 18 hours away from your hometown so you can study at uni, it takes a lot of strength as I can’t imagine leaving my home to go study away by myself 😅 it can be scary I imagine. But you did it! So well done 🤗

It is also very normal to feel this way when you are so far away from your environment so give yourself some time and love, like what the rest of the community said I think it would help you to set aside sometime each day to catch up and talk with your family back at home or even any friends you may have back home, FaceTime would be great as you will be able to see them as well and that can help you feel less alone because as humans we love to socialise and be around people so that can be a daily ritual you can do. It can also help to speak to your family about what you are feeling so they can understand and support you more during this hard time.

I love how you have joined a club in uni because that will be a massive help during your study journey so I would encourage for you to spend more time in that club and with the members of the club.

I am sorry though to hear about your experience with the uni counsellor, I can understand that it can be a bit of a hit and miss with them as I have had my few shares of experiences. However, it is good that you do have a psychiatrist and that you are on medication because I myself have ADHD and take medication to help me through it. Studying and uni can be very difficult so you are doing the best you can and honestly don’t quit because these hard times do pass and just give yourself some time to experience this and meet different people. I moved suburbs early last year and when I first moved to the new suburb I was feeling very lonely as I didn’t know anyone or anything but now I can say I have met some incredible people through work and tafe and I wouldn’t change a thing.

In moments like this it’s very easy to lose hope and feel like you need to let everything go and just go back to what you were used to but in most situations this is a vital part of growth so be kind to yourself and take each day at a time.

Have you tried to see a counsellor or psychologist outside of uni? I know they can be expensive but you can start with Headspace or Beyond Blue, both are free and see how you go.

I hope this helped you feel a bit better and more hopeful, I look forward to hearing back from you and remember we are always here to listen and provide support.

Take care and be safe 💜
