Thanks for the reply. Yeah I totally agree it's usually other people that impose that shame of how we look onto us, and oftentimes it can be difficult to find people who make us feel good about ourselves. I'm sorry about ur experience online but I'm super glad you ended up finding people who were kind to you!
I think I've been fortunate enough as a guy who went to an all boys school, that looks weren't really at the forefront of my mind most of the time. I had friends of all shapes and sizes who weren't worried about looks so I never really stressed too much about my physical appearance, which as I've learnt from my sister, is often not the case with girls.
I reckon that as I've progressed through life the inherent worries about looks that I picked up as a kid, have slowly come to the surface as I engage in more things where worrying about looks is more normalised. Not to mention I've recognised some of my friendships haven't exactly been very helpful in improving my perception (a lot of them are pretty judgmental towards others).
Anyway I'm ranting now thanks so much for the response, it definitely did help 🙂
