I'm really sorry that you and your friends were confronted with this guy saying such a shocking and inappropriate comment. It sounds like even though you wish you'd confronted him in the moment, you did what you felt was right both morally and based on your responsibility by confiding in a teacher. The fact that this led to a further conflict must be really difficult to manage. It makes sense that you are feeling uncomfortable and guilty, especially when confiding in a teacher didn't turn out with the outcome you expected.
It sounds like you have a good support network in your friends and parents to talk about this with, and as has already been mentioned below it may also be worth connecting with trusted teachers about how you can manage his position on the leadership team. I was also wondering if there's anything you can do to look after yourself this evening while you continue to process what's happened?
