I'm glad to hear that you have recognised the sacrifices are not worth it and you're right the sacrifices are not always worth it. A study-life balance is important and I think in the context of things schools and universities and those around us can put a real emphasis on results when there is no need to and forget about boundaries when this could be important to you. Often there are multiple different pathways to achieve your goal no matter the results from high school and university and finding a balance in your life is more important.
I have managed to find an excellent study, work and life balance this year. Organising things in advance, catching up with friends through my uni semester and prioritising myself made a real difference. Now that you've recognised this you can put a real emphasis on it and start it now before uni starts, it is just as important in your first year as it is in your third year. Uni can also help meet people with mutual interests and can be a great way to have a sense of individuality and independence that we often don't get at school.
You should celebrate your wins for this year and look forward to next year.
