TW: Love you all
To everyone who struggles with self harm. To everyone who has struggled with self harm in the past. To everyone who will struggle with self harm in the future. To everyone who has attempted suicide. And to everyone who hasn’t, but has thought about it. Or maybe you haven’t thought about it. This is still for you.
You matter. You are important, even if you can’t recognise it. Every single person you see, even if it’s just a brief passing in the street, you make an impression on them. Absolute strangers. Friends. Family. Colleagues. Peers. Teachers. Caregivers. Animals. Acquaintances. Even people who you don’t like very much. All of them see a version of you. And I can guarantee that all of those versions have good. It’s impossible to be all good. Nobody can be. But every single version of every single person has good in them. Including you.
You don’t deserve this. You don’t deserve to hurt. You don’t deserve to not be here. Nobody does. The fact that you feel like this is really, really unfair. People need to hurt. They need to struggle. It’s what makes us strong. But that still doesn’t make it fair. The negative feelings are the reason that the positive feelings are so powerful. If we were happy all the time, would we truly ever be happy?
You are beautiful, inside and out. Trust me. You are. Your appearance is beautiful, your mind is beautiful, your soul is beautiful. You might not be able to see it. That’s okay. It doesn’t make it any less true. Think of the most beautiful person you know. I mean a person in your life, who you genuinely think is beautiful. I can almost guarantee that they don’t think so. Does that mean it’s not true? No. Of course not, right? It’s the same with you. Just because you cannot see your beauty, figurative and literal, doesn’t mean it’s not there, and doesn’t mean it’s any less.
I really believe this. I hope you believe me. You’re all so awesome, just for being here. Just for trying. Just for living.
