I’m so sorry to hear about your experience. It must have been very overwhelming for this to happen, especially since you had plans to go back to Victoria in the future. Even though it's hard sometimes, it's important to be kind to yourself and remember that panic attacks are not your fault.
I find it really helpful to use grounding techniques, practice deep breathing, and even listen to YouTube meditative guides. I even like to bring a couple of figdet toys with me when I go places to kind of keep me in the present. There are heaps of techniques online on websites like Healthline or Lifeline. There is even a thread on grounding techniques on ReachOut (search grounding techniques and there’s a small thread). I also find it helpful to practice these techniques and do some self-care before I leave if I think I might be going into a stressful environment that might lead to a panic attack.
Remember there is no shame in taking a little break from visiting until you feel completely up to it. You might find it helpful to talk to your girlfriend or a friend about your experience and ask for some advice or support.
Hope some of this was useful to you, happy to hear more if you'd like to talk about it 😊
