Take a break: If I were to live in a fictional world...
…where would it be?
There’s a lot going on at the moment, from exams and studies to tough world news, politics and everything in between. We all have moments where we want to hide ourselves away and escape from reality for a little bit.
Whether it’s curled up with your favourite book, or with your console or computer, it can be hard not to wonder. What would life be like in this world? Who would I be and where would I go?
What fictional world would you want to live in, and why? If you’re not a big reader, movie-watcher or gamer, pop in a gif or photo of somewhere that you’d like to hide out!

Hi @Stormy-RO ,
I absolutely love this question, thanks for asking it! I think I would have to go with my all time favourite show (that has earned itself an annual comfort binge): Avatar the Last Airbender.
I've always wanted to bend an element (and secretly, all four). i would love to explore the peaceful air nation temples filled with so much history, visit the Jasmine Dragon to get some life advice from Uncle Iroh and go penguin sledding with aang. When I'm stressed in real life I think how nice it would be to have a tea party with baby bison.
The world of Your Name would also be right up there. The thought of living quietly amongst nature in all it's beauty seriously sounds like a good life.
Hey @sunset_hues I love that you have more than one example! I love it when you can find a world that suits all of your moods (and bending desires in the case of AtlA 😄). It would be so fun to hang out with all of the characters too! And it seems like nature is something that a lot of people can agree on wanting more of 😊
What a lovely post @Stormy-RO
I play a game called Stardew Valley. I think I'd love to live there. Slow living. Just fishing, spending time with the townspeople, farming, building a house and a family etc.
Real life moves so fast. It'd be nice to just slow right down. 🌷
@ayrc_1904 Stardew Valley sounds like a lot of fun! It seems like the slow living lifestyle is something that brings a lot of people comfort in games 😊 what a great way to escape the hustle of life for a while!
Oh my goodness, I would love to relax in the Pokemon universe!
Can you imagine playing with an Eevee on super sunny days or snuggling with a Snorlax on the days when you just need a break!
And you can't tell me the places aren't beautiful...the only issue is I wouldn't know which region to pick since they're all so gorgeous!
Thank you for such an awesome post @Stormy-RO ! For me I would want to live in a world that encompasses slow living. Basically it's a world where people live in cottages or small villages that are surrounded meadows and life is just super peaceful! It's also sort of going back to past human societies except without too many of the struggles of the past! 😆
Definitely similar to what @Lapis_Anteater has mentioned 🥰
For me bushwalking is the closest I've come to this sort of vibe 🍂. Recently though, my friend has been testing out tiny houses on farmland and she says loves it so I might visit one!
I would probably want to live in a studio Ghibli world. I really like the art style and for some reason the food always looks so good. I think I would go with the city of Koriko in Kiki’s Delivery Service as it’s one of the more peaceful settings. It just seems like a nice, serene town near the water. It is also weirdly nostalgic. Probably because I watched the movie as a kid.
@Lapis_Anteater it's nice to see another Ghibli fan chiming in 😄 those worlds always do look so serene. It would be such a peaceful escape from the business of the real world!
Hi Stormy-RO,
This is such a fun post!
I think just off the top of my head, I would enjoy being in the universe of Honkai: Star Rail (video game). It doesn't mean life will be very peaceful or particularly safe....but it does mean there will be plenty of interesting people to meet and friends along the way. Plenty of exploration and traveling to different planet and worlds, appreciating different architecture and the stories of the worlds and of the people there. The interastral and exploration theme of the game really adds a sense of mystery and adventure. Also, knowing I'm part of a team with reliable people watching each other's backs makes it even more fun! It would be a sharp contrast with real life, where I haven't traveled to a new place for quite time, and where I have to deal with the realities of study or work.
Hey @Greenfern ! I love that you've found a video game world that catches your attention so much. It would be so much fun to explore different planets and meet the characters 😊 Do you find playing adventure and exploration video games in particular help you reset from study and work for a little while?
Hi Stormy-RO,
Yes, I find that playing adventure and exploration video games immerses me in an alternate world and it's refreshing compared to study/work so it helps me reset. :)))
