Where is your happy place?
A happy place is somewhere you feel calm and safe, and you can retreat to when you need to cope with things. It might be in real life, or somewhere from your daydreams or meditation.
If you have a happy place, real or imagined, share your experience of it here. Gifs and anonymous photos are encouraged!
If you don’t have one, you can build a story of what your ideal happy place would be. Consider who is there, what the weather is like, and how to engage with all of the senses 🌁
For me, my happy place is on the grass next to my local outdoor pool, where I can dry off in the warm sun after a swim 🏊

My happy place is anywhere I can find my closest friends, family or my dog. My dog's happy place is easily the park, so I always try my best to take him whenever I have the time. If my dog is happy I am happy.
Love this thread!! This might sound strange but hear me out 😂, one of my safe spaces is my cozy little car. I'm a person who loves getting places early so that I have a few minutes to mentally prepare myself before I do whatever i'm doing, so I love that my car is my own space where I can take a moment alone to centre myself in a space that is my own before I go into work/uni/where ever im going. I've got some vanilla scented wax melts in there, a couple of flowers I crocheted on my dash, and always have music or an audiobook going which makes it a nice space to be in! - i've also got all my favourite emergency items and book etc so I always have whatever I might need 🥰.
My lovely happy place is anywhere as long as Magic, my gorgeous kitty is there
My happy place is when I’m out riding my bike, whenever I’m on a plane or sitting at the airport plane spotting at sunset. Great question to ask!
I love this question! My happy place is a cozy little spot by a quiet beach at sunset. The sand is soft and cool underfoot, and the air smells salty and fresh. There’s a gentle breeze that makes the palm trees sway, and the sound of waves softly crashing against the shore is incredibly calming. The sky is painted in soft hues of orange, pink, and purple, and everything feels peaceful.
If I close my eyes, I can feel the warmth of the sun on my skin, and I take a deep breath, feeling completely at ease. There’s no rush, just the sound of the ocean and the feeling of being completely in the moment. Maybe there’s a book beside me, or I’m just sitting there, watching the horizon.
It’s a place that makes me feel grounded, safe, and free all at once. I love that sense of stillness and connection with nature.😊
My bed is actually my happy place; I put a lot of effort into making it look both pretty and extra comfy! Having soft blankets and fluffy pillows is so soothing for me. I sometimes practice my Japanese while sitting in bed or enjoying a cup of matcha while listening to the birds outside.
Me too! I love my bed - it is so comforting to come home and get in. I have a weighted blanket and getting under is the best feeling 🙂
I have two happy places depending on whats going on in my life. A nice hot bath, listening to music to wind down after a long day or week. Or outside in the sun, doing any sort of activity, walking, on the beach or next to the river.
My happy place is being with my friends or partner after a hard day of work 💓 It is so nice to wind down with people that i love and enjoy being around.
What a beautiful idea @Stormy-RO
Mines a bit similar to yours. I would have to say my happy place is when I am outside connected to nature and soaking up the beautiful energy from the sun. Just sitting on the grass in my backyard, grounding, with my dog lying on the grass next to me. Maybe with a book in my hand, or listening to to music, or even just listening to the birds chirping. I often travel to this place mentally when I am feeling stressed out or doing a meditation inside.
I love hearing everyone else's happy places 💛
Hey @Stormy-RO
My ideal happy place would definitely be lived through the idea of simple living. That is, living away from the hustle and bustle of the city and away from any distraction. To be honest, I can envision it being a grassy countryside somewhere in Europe with a small cottage home and a forest to forage in. I'd love to experience something like that one day, but for now, it's an idea that keeps me happy 😅
A happy place for me would be a peaceful beach at sunset with the sound of gentle waves and sand beneath my feet, and a light breeze. The colours are comforting and warm. Often I even just sit in the sunshine at home and spend time with my dogs. I prefer the company of close family and home is my safe place.
Love this post btw! 🫶🏻
This question really go me thinking!! I think there's a lot of places I spend time in but are not necessarily my happy place. I think my happy place is similar to yours! It would be somewhere warm and sunny but not so hot that I have to retreat back inside. Next to a pool with a good book sounds amazing and I would definitely be happy there 😎
Hey @Stormy-RO
I agree that having a happy place to go (either in real life or through imagination) can be so useful in times of stress or when you just need some clarity!
My happy place is anywhere I can be in nature. I feel that I can truly be myself when alone in nature, as nature never judges who you are. It doesn't care what job you have, who you hang out with, or what you look like, nature will always be there and I find that incredibly grounding 🌱
Hey @Stormy-RO ,
Great question, your answer reminded me that I want to join swimming classes, as soon I will have vacation.
My happy place is the backyard of the house covered in grass and surronded by beautiful plants grown by my grand father. It's very good spot for the ME time. I practice yoga and little bit of exercise there. I like lying down, feeling the blow of wind over my body and peaceful sound of the birds.
I really struggled finding a happy place after moving to Australia. In my home country, my happy spot was the top of the house (terrace), where I used to climb up and spend some ME time. I loved the view of the sunset and sunrise from there. Sometimes, i used to go that place to get motivation or to self-talk. Just observing everything around me.
Nature has a very big impact on my mental health 💚.
Here, I am sharing one rose from the backyard.
Hi @Stormy-RO,
My happy place is similar to yours, which is the beach. 🏝🌊🏊♂️ This is the place where I always go after every break I get in my university semesters, which gets really hard at some times.
Swimming at the beach is where I can appreciate beautiful Australian nature and go outside for some decent exercise and wellbeing nourishment. This is my absolute favourite place to go above all others and it feels like a dream but is most certainly reality.
Thanks for this post @Stormy-RO and I can't wait for our online community members to get together and share our happy places!
Hello@Stormy-RO
I must say what an excellent post on happy places.
Personally, I find it sure a good idea to have a happy place, as it really takes the edge off throughout your busy schedule, letting you recharge after a long day
My happy place would be something along the lines of a nice hill 🏞️, with a bench that overlooks a beautiful scenery 🌄, with a book 📕 in hand while I sip some coffee ☕️
Really helps re-coordinate me after I imagine it or go to the hill myself.
That’s my take of a happy place, hope to see and read what other people’s happy places are as well 🤩
