Am I still trans?

To start off, I came out as trans (FtM) at the start of the year to my friends. I know my parents know but I haven't actually told them yet. I experience all the stereotypical symptoms (eg. social and bodily dysphoria) but sometimes I dont feel 100% percent like I am. Not that I feel like another gender just not sure that I'm that. I've seen a few FtM people talking bout their childhood lately and they said you can usually tell from really young(psychologists say like 7 years) but I was really girly and didn't really display any symptoms as far as I know. Am I still valid?

Hey @Tan_Elk😊

You are definitely still valid ❤️ Gender identity is different for everyone, and just because your experience is different from someone else's doesn't mean it's any less real. I'm non-binary and I can totally relate to feeling like that sometimes though! I think it's important to remind yourself to focus on how you feel and what gender identity feels like the best fit for you, without comparing it to other people's experiences. When you focus on your own thoughts and feelings, do you still feel like indentifying as a trans man isn't 100% the right fit for you? If not, what parts of it don't match up for you?

It's also super important to remember there's no pressure to have a definitive label. Exploring your gender identity can be a journey, it can be fluid, and it can take time to figure out. And thats ok 🙂 QLife are a really great support service for LGBTQIA+ people if you wanted to chat to someone one on one. We also have this video from Warren, who is a trans person talking about their experience that you might like to watch too.

Welcome back!
