Next Question; What are some signs that you or a friend might need to stop/slow down the drinking for the night?

As much as I love a few beers whats the fun in spending more time hugging your toilet than you did drinking...

Nothing kills the good vibes like a good ol' toilet hug 😞

@j95 yeah. I know my dad once flooded the bathroom because he tried to clean up his sick. It was amusing because he'd flooded the bathroom, it was the en suite bathroom too, not ours.

Exactly!!! @j95 if the hang over lasts longer than your night out then that just cancels out the fun. My friend used to say "if you cant remember last night, you know you had a good time" i totally dont get that

What does 'alcohol' mean to you? When and why do we use it?

Alcohol is just an add on to a fun night for me, yeah sure I have had my fair share of nights I have been unable to remember but I do try to make sure it doesn't make or break the night/event. My dad had an alcohol and drug addiction so I know how bad things can get.

Welcome to the session for tonight guys!! What a glorious monday, fine night for a drink you might say... and that just happens to be what tonight is all about. Alcohol. The good the bad and the ugly, we want all stories 'spilled' tonight! Hopefully we can all learn some ways to handle our drinking or help a friend in need.

Make sure you all check out the forum guidelines and have a read if you haven't already and if at any time you need to talk check the emergency tab at the top right.

@dreamcatcher and myself @SJG will be facilitating tonight so lets get started! First question for the night is!

What does 'alcohol' mean to you? When and why do we use it?

Hi everyone! Hope you're ready for tonight's chat, it's gonna be a rad one!! 😄

What does 'alcohol' mean to you? When and why do we use it?

To me, alcohol is a drug that we use to 'get the party going' by making us feel more chill and loud, haha. It's always around my life at college, whether that's for parties, social gatherings, whatever.

To me alcohol is about socialising.. unless im super stressed and then a glass of red wine by myself doesnt go astray.

Hello there! So glad to be joining you guys!

What does 'alcohol' mean to you? When and why do we use it?
Alcohol is a substance used by people as a reward system, defense mechanism or just for a good time. People use it to celebrate, to drown themselves of their sorrows and just for a night out, no particular reason for it. We use it at parties, dinners or any time really. There is no specific way people use alcohol or when and why because people use it for different reasons.

Hey guys. 🙂

You asked the wrong person! Cat Tongue To me, anything with a hydroxyl group is classed as an alcohol. However, in the context that you are asking, alcohol is a way to let off some steam and enjoy yourself. I sometimes like to drink it after a long stressful day, just as a way to relax, particularly if we are talking about wine and a bath. Other times, it is usually just for social use. But I have used it for other things in the past.

@SJG I don't know whether it's a sad or a good thing but I'm underage as well. But I've also had unhappy experiences with alcohol so it's my enemy. Although I did make some wine in chemistry but that was fun so it was my friend then.
@stonepixie haha all the TV show and movie scenes with someone in a bubble bath with a glass of wine.

@N1ghtW1ing underage drinking is pretty hard to avoid. Rare that people dont drink before 18 these days i think. Making wine actually sounds amazing! But homemade stuff can be pretty potent ive heard. Ive had many unhappy experiences, but also some really happy ones!

I'm guilty of still drunk the next evening after an o-week event. Needless to say that I didn't drink that night.

Losing your balance easily

The room is spinning

Having trouble walking / standing

Slurred words

@SJG I remember hearing everyone talk about a party a few weeks ago. Everyone drunk. The two of my friends that went, one of them had a vodka bottle apparently. She's also a fun-drunk according to the party-goers.
I've heard people in my grade talk about drinking before too. But I just don't think I'll ever get into it. Sorry @stonepixie .

I've had drinks before though, my dad's spiked orange juice (one of the saddest moments of my life going for some orange juice, drinking some then realising that it has alcohol in it)

@N1ghtW1ng its not for everybody! Ive got a few friends who stay away from it all together. Probably smart. And im sorry your dad did that to you!

@SJG he didn't do it intentionally, but how could someone ruin perfectly good orange juice? I laugh back at it now though.
