Hello and welcome to another fun night of Getting Real! Tonight @ruenhonx and I will be talking about one of the best things in the world… SLEEEEEEEEP!

Before we get started it would be great for us all to have a quick read of this link and remind ourselves of the community guidelines. Also, if at any time you feel like you need a break please check out our emergency help page.

Note: Napping is not permitted in-between questions 😛

So to start us off. We want to know who the sleep experts are out there. Can you answer the following questions?

A) How any hours of sleep do you think a teenager needs per night (on average)?
B) What do you think the connection is between missing a nights sleep and drinking driving?
C) What is the ideal length of a nap?

Ummmmmmmmmm maybe like 8?

B) What do you think the connection is between missing a nights sleep and drinking driving?

I'm not sure about this connectio... but I certainly wouldn't want to see the effects of no sleep and drink driving together...

C) What is the ideal length of a nap?

A year! haha 😛 Nah maybe 30 minutes!!

These are cool questions. Makes my brain think!

It's suprising that no sleep makes you the same as someone who is drunk. It's really weird to think about. I guess thats why the police pay so much attention to those powernap adds on the side of the road???

8.5 - 9

B) What do you think the connection is between missing a nights sleep and drinking driving?

Your brain can't function at its peak in either situations making it difficult to make choices.

C) What is the ideal length of a nap?
Well.. I had a discussion about this with some friends the other day, some say a nap is 30 minutes others 3 hours. Best nap for me is probably 2 hours.

My sleep pattern really changes @ruenhonx!

I rekon on average I go to bed at like 11pm and wake up like 7.30.... so that's like 8.5 hours. But it's so not 8 and a half straight hours. I'm constantly tossing and turning, going to the bathroom... getting up to tend to my new puppy!

I rekon by the end of it it's probably only like 5 hours.

What about you?

I blame myself for my crappy sleeping pattern.

Sometimes I get 4.5 or 6 mostly about 8 but I love it when I get 9 hours of sleep. I tend to do toilet trips a lot though but I easily go right back into my sleep.

as the weather changes over the year and the sun comes up earlier - I'm up earlier, we start work as soon as its light so no matter how much sleep i get i still have to get up so stupidly early

I know that feeling @j95 Used to work in a warehouse, which as a 6:30 start so waking up around 5:30. Gets home around 9 to 11 pm and ready for bed again. I think i am still using the 6 hour sleeping pattern from that time xD

Sometimes if i sleep more than 8 hours, i feel even worse. It's like binge sleeping

Was that goldclass person my twin @j95 cos i seriously did that too. they used to give you blankets like I mean they were asking for it!

@lovin each day i rekon sometimes if you get used to only a little bit of sleep, when you sleep more its super weird and can leave you feeling worse!

4. How do you actually know when you haven’t had enough sleep?

The other day I put my girlfriends liquid foundation onto my toothbrush instead of toothpaste!! I really was tired!!

and also the other day there was an empty twisties packet on the bench with an apple core in it, got to work opened up my lunchbox (yes I'm 20 and still use a lunchbox) and turns out i had picked the empty twisties packet with the apple core in it instead of a new packet, i was super tired and hungry that day

How do you think you would feel if you slept the OPPOSITE of what you normally sleep? (eg twice as long, or half as long!)

Half as long and I would be
more of a walking zombie than I already am...

Twice as long which would mean 10.5 - 12 hours, which is good but would probably be TOO much...
