Does anyone here skateboard?

Long story short, I've never done it before but want to give it a try. I feel like I'm probably too old to be starting, but I've felt that way since I first realised I wanted to do it... I don't have anyone to learn with or know anyone who does it, so I'd just have to start off in private til I get a minimum level of confidence up.

Cool thanks for the tips @j95 🙂

Watch skate videos if you dont have anyone to skate with! Im sure they would help haha even if its just to psych you up

My boyfriend skates a little and when he has no one to skate with he just goes to the skatepark (even if he doesnt do epic tricks or use the ramps etc) you can meet people there easy, just say hi I spose 🙂

 Goodluck!

Got my new skateboard today 😄 Just in time for the weekend 🙂 I decided to practice going back and forth across the living room where no one could see me lol

Dude it is totally never too old to start anything! Don't let your age interefere with anything you want to do 🙂 Check out this old guy if you don't believe me!

And I used to skate a bit when I was younger, it's a lot of fun and gives you a completely different aspect on your city. Stairs will never look the same once you start skating I can promise you that!
I actually just bought myself a longboard today because I missed skating so much. If you haven't looked into it longboards are an awesome way to travel around and have a completely different feel than normal skaties. Both are a lot of fun though! Also my final word of advice is it is a veeerrryyy steep learning curve at the start. Don't be disheartened if it takes forever to learn how to ollie (it took me a week of practising every single day to get an inch off the ground!). It takes time at the start but it is totally worth it!

Haha he's awesome. Looks older than 55 though 😛

Cool 🙂 That's awesome that you bought a longboard 😄 I briefly looked into them but figured I'd learn to have more control with a regular skateboard to start with.

At the moment I'm still just getting used to going straight and level cause it's pretty embarrassing going out and wobbling around in front of anyone so I haven't practiced much.

Anyway thanks for the tips 🙂

Honestly @Bay82VU I think going for one that costs a little more is the way to go, it will last, if you find that skateboarding isnt for you, you can sell it. But the cheapers ones (not all but alot) arent worth it, just a bit stiff with turning and all that stuff, much better off paying that bit more for a decent one.

I do 🙂

Its really simple once you get started
except im dont do tricks or skate parks and all that a whole lot, just a sweet way to get from a - b and a good help when trying to walk my dog!!

Sweet 🙂 I'm really keen to give it a try, even if I can't learn any tricks.

Would you recommend starting out with a board from a skate shop rather than a cheap and nasty one from k-mart?
