It's definitely tough, @starlight, I understand what you mean about want to be there when his friends aren't necessarily the best supports. Is there a school counsellor or well-being that you can visit with him so that someone more qualified can help too? That may take off some of the stress and responsibility you have.
I'm sorry that you're in this difficult spot, it seems that others don't know how to deal, and you might not know much more but you are taking it all on. Thats an amazing quality and it's nice to know that he has someone as caring as you to help! Its still so overwhelming for you, I'm just thinking, is there someone you can chat to, like his parents? Maybe his brother could talk to them too?

@Craycray17, I've been alright wih it, the friend in question is my ex-boyfriend, which does sort of add to the stress. I've been sick lately, I haven't been to school since Friday. I really wanted to go today so I could see how he was doing, cause his other friends are nice, but they're not very good at being supportive. My mum wouldnt let me go to school, so I'm stuck at home for now, but I'm definetely going tomorrow. It hasn't been very good for me, as he only recently broke up with me after 9 months of daing, and I have a lot of other stuff going on with my life on top of his problem.

We hadn't really talked very much since we broke up, but now it's changed really quickly, and everyone is looking to me to talk to him and come up wih a solution, even his 18 year old brother is trying to get me to fix everything. Everyone thinks he's gettting beter, and ever time someone says that I feel like crying because I know him better and I know it's not true, he's not getting better. It's just a lot to deal with at the moment while I'm trying to figure out stuff about myself and who I am, as well as body image stuff I'm trying to fix.

I'm really glad to hear that this website has proven helpful for you with your own and your friends concerns. How is it all going with them? Suicidality is a very serious thing, I'm really sorry that they are feeling that way at the moment. Are you okay with everything on that issue? It can also be difficult helping someone when they feel that way, it's a big responsibility!
We are here if you need to chat about it, you can always make a thread in the something's not right section of our online forums.
I also love reading and writing, what are you reading at the moment?
Ooh art is great!

I am studying psychology, today I spent the day working on my assignment and also got outside (between rain) so it was nice to enjoy a not too cold day 🙂

Well, @Craycray17, I'm 14 and I found RO when I was searching the internet for information on what to do if a friend is suicidal. I checked it out and it seemed to have info on stuff I was having problems with too, so I thought I'd join. I love reading and writing, and my fsvourite subject at school is art. what about you?

Hey @lanejane, what an awesome thread. I like that you don't have to talk about anything specific. How has your day been today?

Hey @Starlight03 Smiley Happy

To answer your questions, RO is basically a website which helps promote the mental health and wellbeing of young people. We provide support and practical help for issues which can range in their seriousness. Check out the about section if you want a more detailed explanation.

RO also has forums, where you can chuck a question or start a conversation through a new thread. Have a look at the community guidelines first though, just to make sure your post is accessible for everyone! You can make a new thread in any of the forum sections (which are Hanging Out, Wellbeing and Tough Times) using the 'New Message' button. It looks like this:

RO new message.JPG

and is located under the forum section title on the left hand side of the page. To explain the different sections:

  • Tough Times is where you would go if you're struggling with something and would like some support,
  • Wellbeing is more self-care oriented, and is about positive coping mechanisms and generally learning and sharing our different self-care methods
  • Hanging Out is just for hanging out! This is where we have forum games, post funny memes and introduce ourselves each month

You've probably also noticed the different headings along the top of the site:

RO top header.JPG

All of them (except for Forums, of course) have links to different resources on all sorts of issues, from mental and physical health, identity, self-care and issues such as bullying, mental illness and dealing with death.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have other questions Smiley Happy

@lanejane My local fit club is a big space, like a gym, but without the equipment and they run different classes for free. So basically, a free instructed group workout. It was so much fun!! Felt so welcome and will definitely go back. I loved it.

I'm playing in both of the gigs, the one on Saturday night is with the band I play drums in and the one one Sunday is me on my own, just a little courtyard thing in the afternoon.

Suprises are always good. I hope you have fun!! It sounds awesome. My brother just suprised me and text me to tell me he is staying the night (didn't ask, just told me haha). I think we might head out for dinner. It's nice to see family and I hope you have fun with your sisters.

Thanks for looking out for me @lanejane I'm ok, I have a headspace appointment late this afternoon after Trade school. Lots to work on but I'll be alright

Hey @lanejane

I'm alright today, been hard at work all day then went to my local free fit club for the first time. Didn't know anybody!! I'm feeling a bit enlightened, the vibe and welcoming me there was awesome!!
I have a weekend full of gigs!

What about you, what are you doing on the weekend?

@j95 is fit club like a gym or free fitness classes? either way it sounds good. when i exercise it makes me feel so much better. everyone always says that it's good for you... but it's only when you do it that you realise it actually is. makes you feel like the world is brighter somehow. must be some air to brain or something Woman Frustrated

i'm glad you're going to some gigs this weekend (or are you playing at them?). it's good to do stuff you enjoy. i'm taking my partner to cirque de solei or whatever as a surprise. and other than that i don't really know. maybe hang out with my sisters.

im happy to hear you are feeling a bit better than the other day. just wanted to make sure you were okay & stufffffff.

Welcome back!
