Hey @nooooooooothanky 🙂
Lots of people grow up feeling the same way as you, and I did too. Talking about my emotions and opening up wasn't as normalized in my family and environment. But over time I learned to cope with things and to help you I would suggest that you get into the habit of writing down your thoughts and emotions. It can be journaling, or even just opening up notes on your phone and typing there. This process can help you get some pressure off yourself, clear your mind, and normalize the behavior of expressing yourself.
In the future it can also help if you're still not able to openly talk to another person, maybe showing a bit of your notes in person or by email can be an alternative when trying to ask for help.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and feelings here! We're all here for help and advice. A trusted teacher can definitely be of great help sometimes, but if you are feeling particularly down, a professional such as a school counsellor could help you a little more. I hope that you are able to find somebody that you trust and feel comfortable talking to. For now, we're here to talk when you need it
Hi @nooooooooothanky, welcome to ReachOut and thanks for sharing your experience with us. It was very brave of you to reach out for support tonight. It can be so difficult to share what is going on for us for a whole number of reasons. Sometimes we feel worried, judged, afraid or unsure of what might happen if we share our thoughts and feelings. You mention wanting to tell a teacher about how you feel which is such a big step. It is really normal to worry that your parents might find out what you share with teachers or even other health professionals. You can always mention this to your teacher and have a chat about those worries
There are online services that provide web and telephone counselling that may also be able to support you through what you are going through. Some of these include Lifeline, eHeadspace and Kids Helpline. A lot of our members use these services to get immediate support when things are really tough.
Please keep an eye on your emails, I will be sending one through
Hii @nooooooooothanky , I'm sorry to hear that you've been through a lot at such a young age but we're glad to see that you have the courage to share that with us! If you're comfortable with it, please feel free to share with us what's been troubling you, but it's perfectly okay if you're not! We're here to listen and chat with you if there's anything wrong.
That being said, other resources include contacting the Kids Helpline via email, phone, or online webchat about the things that are troubling you, as well as using eHeadspace.
Lastly, is there a school counsellor available that you could go talk to? Usually a counsellor would keep your conversation with them completely confidential unless what you say puts you or others at risk.
I hope that at least puts you in the right direction for seeking help! Please do let us know how things go for you ~
Hiya @nooooooooothanky, it must be so hard walking around feeling like that all the time. It can be so challenging to communicate with people, especially if we are feeling low and upset. Teachers are used to talking to students especially about difficulties that they are facing in their life. Most teachers will appreciate that you came to them for help and recognise how brave you are for doing so You could start by mentioning that you trust them and want to know if you can share what is going on for you. It is up to you though - you don't have to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or anxious. It may take some time for you to feel comfortable sharing.
We have sent you an email with some other services that we really encourage you to use if you need some support in the meantime
