Hello,
I only just joined this site after the Doctor reccomended it, and I hope it goes well. The main reason as to why I joined is because I don't really know anybody who is in a similar position as me - and I don't know any drug addicts in reality. There isn't even a Narcotics Anonymous (NA) support group in my town. My Dad used to be an alcoholic, and he is a great help, but there is only so much you can tell family before it just causes more trouble than good. That's why I prefer anonymity; people don't know me, just my story.
I was hoping there would be like an unofficial sponsor, or simply just somebody who I could reliably express to when it comes to addiction.
Anyway, I wrote a story around a month ago, which goes over my addiction. It's not so accurate, since it's a bit of a blurr to me, but it gives the impression of what I went through and how others can help. In essence, I had an various addictions for about 2 and a half years; and I have only turned 19 as of last week. and it is going fairly well so far. But I wish I just had somebody who I could openly talk to. I don't go out much, due to the depression and anxiety, and I have to resort to online conversations. You don't have to read the story below, since it's a bit lengthy and sentimental, but I thought I would post it here just incase.

Hey Nozphexezora,
Welcome to Reach Out. It's great that you came here to look for support and advice. This is a great space to share your life experiences with other young people and to read about theirs, heaps of geat ideas regarding managing different issues.
If you feel you need something more specific to drug addiction and recovering from drug addiction, you could try ADIN. This link goes straight to their support and services page. You can look for locally based services that offer Drug and Alcohol counselling or residential treatment centres.
If a Twelve Step program appeals to you, but you have trouble getting to meetings because of your location, Narcotics Anonymous have online meetings. The details are here.
Let us know how you go.
Hey Nozphex - thanks for joining RO 🙂 Lots of people who join feel a bit daunted about posting - so thanks for breaking the silence!
It sounds like you'll get a lot out of being here, and be able to share some of your story to help others. We look forward to having you around.
Hi nozphexezora and welcome to reachout
depression and anxiety can really suck sometimes and its good to know that you are among friends here at reachout
i have deleted some of your post because it breaches guidelines.
Addiction can be hard to deal with and coming to reachout can be the first step to getting help with like minded people and people who have been in similar situations to your self.
I have had friends who went through addiction and they have worked hard to get over it and one of the biggest challenges they had was fighting the stigma towards it.
Seeking help can be hard and its good to hear you are getting help from your gp and here on reachout.
