My Afternoon

Hey!! I'm Brydz,

This week I went back to school. I started to feel stressed and felt it was time for some me time.

I had some quiet time to myself, drank some water and watched some netflix to destress and think about more ways to approach the work needing to be done.

Hi @Brydz17

School can definitely be a stressful time and its great to hear that you were able to destress and take a step back.

How have you been feeling about school since then?

Hi @Anzelmo

Since Ive been back for 2 weeks, its been better, whenever its the end of the week, Im always happy because of the stress and how i like school. I feel my confidence has dropped as well.

Hopefully it gets better soon, i don't really want my last year of school to be one i hated and stressed all the time.

Hi @Brydz17 , it’s good to hear that things have been getting better and that you have been enjoying school. You mentioned that you feel like your confidence has dropped, can I ask why it is that you feel that way? Was there something that made your confidence drop? I hope that things get better soon for you too, feeling stressed is not a great feeling at all 🧡.

I am so glad you were able to realise you needed time and took it!! It can be extremely difficult sometimes especially with the pressure of school.

Some more ways I feel I could manage my stress is by making a schedule or plan for the tasks I need to complete, asking for help would also be beneficial.

Hey @Brydz17 sorry to hear about how you have been feeling stressed out about school. I think making a schedule or plan about some tasks that need to be completed sounds like a really great strategy! Asking for help can also be so helpful as assistance from other people can really make things easier 😊. Is there anyone in particular that you feel comfortable asking for help when you are stressed?

Hii,

I feel I could go to my friends, or my year advisor at school.

Hey @Brydz17 those are some really great options! Have you had the chance to go to your friends or year advisor at school for support before? 😁

Hey @Brydz17

That's so great that you can just bring it up in conversation with your friends. I often find when I share how I'm feeling with my friends they've also felt the same way at some point and are really good at giving me some advice.

Is there a way you can make an appointment to see your year advisor? Or ask a teacher how to get in touch with them?

I think so, she gave us her timetable so we can go to her, I just am unsure how I could approach her and what to say.

I haven't talked to her about how I feel since I started high school, now year 12.. I feel its too late to approach her, but then I also feel its better than to not see her and tell her how I feel, and what can be done.

I'm a shy person, and don't talk much in class and feel that's a reason as to why.

Hi @Brydz17

Being a shy person, it’s very brave of you to consider speaking to year advisor 😊

Your year advisor may be quite used to speaking to a variety of different students and may be very open to chatting with you even if you haven’t spoken before – she is there to help after all!

Do you know if any of your friends have spoken to her? It may give you a better idea of what to say or ask so you can feel a little more prepared. Another option may be to write down the questions you have and bring them with you so that you have something to refer to if you get nervous and forget what you were there to discuss 😊

Hi @Brydz17 thank you for sharing your day with us. I'm sorry to hear that you started to feel stressed but the fact that you were able to identify that you needed some 'me time' is huge! Netflix always helps to destress me too, what kinds of things do you enjoy watching? Going back to school can be very stressful in itself, so I was wondering if you were able to identify anything else that might help make you feel a little better when you start to feel stressed? 💜

Welcome back!
