Hi, my name is Damnit,
I'm finally opening up to having someone into my life. I Finally had the courage today and asked this girl out for coffee. They replied saying "Let's play it by ear" what does this mean I'm new to dating 🙂 any advice would be great!

To play it by ear is to act spontaneously and according to the situation. Playing it by ear means you have no game plan. The original meaning of this term was to play music without sheet music, meaning you either remembered the music or improvised it.
Another way to put thatt is that there's no game plan and you kind of just start off and see how it goes from there and how it turns out.
