It's okay! Don't apologise!! You've got a lot going on and this time of year is mental so I'm proud of you for putting yourself first and doing what you need to do to get by and make it though this roller-coaster time of year!
No problems about not wanting to celebrate, I totally get it. I do hope that once the pressure is off you are able to feel some sort of relief. I know I'm bloody hoping I do!!
Ahahah yeah.. I can't say it goes all that well for me half the time either lol But I'm defs trying! Hahahahahaha exposure therapy.. man we are the same person. I've also tried to do that on myself and yep, NEVERA ends well. Just tears, panic attacks and a whole lot of self hate and feeling incapable of anything 😂 So maybe try leave that one to the professionals? Lol ALTHOUGH... this is where my OT skills are coming in handy. Idk if they teach you about grading in psych? But basically you break down a task, literally to every minute step to find out where the client is having the most difficulty etc. That's called a 'task analysis' but then we use what we call 'grading' to get the client back to full functioning. It's used a lot in like muscle rehab and all that jazz but is also a great method for the mental health. So it's basically just looking at the task, breaking it down into hella small steps then grading yourself up to completing the whole task. E.g. the task might be cooking a meal independently.. the steps would be something like make a grocery list, go to the shops to get groceries, make the meal blah blah blah but to grade it you might start off by buying frozen meals, then maybe partly frozen and something small to cook with it and then eventually you grade it to making a complete meal independently. Oh yeah, and ya also throw in some assistance there haha so like, maybe for anxiety you go grocery shopping with someone else for support then the next time you just drive to the shops on your own, then the next time you go in and just buy one thing and eventually you build yourself up to being able to have the confidence to do a grocery shop on your own? Idk if that is making any sense sorry. I'm half asleep and this description is rats ass 😂 But yeah.. basically just break everything down into teeny tiny tasks so they are achievable for the client and they are able to build confidence in themselves..
So that's a thing I'm trying to use with me atm, a lot of breaking down of tasks and grading so I don't become to overwhelmed. Doesn't always work but like grocery shopping is a thing for me cause it often sends me into a panic attack. So now I might break it up over a few days and only get a few things at a time so I can get in and get the hell out. So that's one way I'm applying it. Then also TRYING with my uni.. but that's just a shit show and I feel like nothing is gonna help me there 😂😂😂
Ugh, not the dreaded lecture catch up! That's brutal!!! How are you going with it?! I'm also trying to pull through with mine atm so totally relate lol Are any of them remotely interesting?
