Just by reading your responses, I can tell you are a super accepting and positive person - the patience and hope you have for your dad is admirable. I feel like it's important to recognise that because those qualities will carry you through this journey, you're embarking on. In saying that, it's okay if you don't always feel that way and feel sad - we're here for that too.
It's a relief to hear you have close friends to support you. One of the beautiful things about the LGBTIQA+ community is that (sadly) many people have been through similar experiences. I'm sure you will cross paths with resilient, supportive people who will get it and welcome you with open arms.
