Hi @Jardin

I’m so sorry to hear that this has been your experience of adopting a kitten!

As a cat-lover, I have owned many cats/kittens over the years. Whilst it has been such a big part of my life having pets, I know how big of a commitment it is.

I think the fact that you know the commitment that being a good pet owner is as well as knowing your own internal limits and capacities is great. Whilst you may have felt it wouldn’t be right for you, you never know until you are in the situation and you gave it a shot – it has been a worthwhile experience because now you know for sure.

As @The_Fool has also spoken about, you can wait it out and see how you go through the adjustment period with the kitten. There can be a lot of adjustments, but kittens are sometimes hard! There is a lot of advice out there, but know your own limits and keep track of how it is affecting your mental health.

I think taking the kitten back to the RSPCA would be one idea if it really is not working out – kittens are generally more likely to get adopted out again. You can have a chat with them about the demand for kittens there first, if you need the reassurance. If you feel super uncomfortable returning her to the RSPCA, you can also look into no-kill shelters to surrender her.

If it  turns out right now is not the best time for a pet, it doesn’t mean that you won’t have a lifestyle and ability to own a pet in future 😊
