i'm sorry to hear that your classmate joked about that, i imagine it could be rather invalidating to have your experiences with both mental health and questioning your sexuality ignored.

talking to that friend sounds like a great idea, it would be helpful to see how she found out she identifies as ace and to have someone helps support you as your make your own discoveries! it sounds like you've been researching about your sexuality for a few years now so it could be nice to hear from someone you know who might have gone through a very similiar experience to you. feel free to provide us with another update if you do reach out to them!
