To me a healthy relationship would not look anything like my parents relationship. They do not love each other and can barely tolerate each other. It's often hard to understand why they got together in the first place.

I feel like in a healthy relationship people need to respect each other and know how to moderate their own emotions so that they are not taking stuff out on the other person. My father, for example, has a bad temper and is easily set off. Because of this he starts arguements with my mum (and other family members), which of course damages relationships and causes hostility.

You can't have a healthy relationship if one person is using the other person as an emotional punching bag.
