Thank you @seal2099 and @Portia_RO for your kind replies!
I am so sorry for my how long it has taken for me to write up a reply – things have been hectic for me lately.
To answer some of your questions, I am not sure which would be more important for my wellbeing (finishing uni earlier or living near my family). I would probably lean more towards family, but then again it might be good for me long term to live away from them and learn how to be a bit more independent. I guess I am just worried that if I go back to NSW and I fall into that dark hole I sometimes fall into, that I might not be able to pull myself out of it without their help.
In regard to a pros and cons list this is what I have come up with:
NSW
Pros:
- Finish degree earlier
- (might) learn some independence
Cons:
- Away from family
- Mosquito-infested uni campus (honestly it is horrible in the warmer months).
- Sometimes feels there isn’t much to do there.
- Will probably miss QLD
- Will need to move my stuff from QLD back down to NSW.
QLD
Pros:
- Love the city here & the lifestyle it offers. Lots to do and lots of other young people which is great.
- Near family
- Won’t need to move my stuff from QLD back down to NSW.
Cons:
- Longer time to finish uni. Could possibly be too long and eventuate in me giving up entirely.
At the moment I am still thinking I will do a gap year next year (to work and travel if I can). This will hopefully give me some extra time to decide what I want to do the following year – whether I want to stay in QLD or go back to NSW to finish my degree. To answer what makes me nervous about taking a gap year – I guess I am scared I am going to waste it by not doing much, or not being able to find good work.
Thank you both for your support and for providing me with great questions to ask myself. I really appreciate it!❤️
