Hi @Finn_the_Human 👋 welcome to the ReachOut Community - it’s wonderful to have you here 🙂
Thank you for sharing your story with us. It takes a lot of courage to open up about your feelings and experiences, especially when they’re as personal as your journey to understanding your own identity and sexuality. We’re here to listen and support you in any way we can.
I’m really sorry to hear that you’re going through a challenging time as you grapple with the realisation of being aromantic asexual. It can be a lot to process, and I am wondering if you have any supportive friends or family members who are there for you at the moment?
It’s completely understandable that you’re feeling a sense of loss and grief as you come to terms with your experiences and desires being different from what society often portrays as the norm, particularly in a world that seems to prioritise romantic relationships. Please know that your worth extends far beyond romantic desires - you have qualities and strengths that make you who you are, and there are people who will appreciate these qualities.
Your journey to embracing your identity may take time. It’s okay to experience moments of grief and frustration along the way. Try to remember that you aren’t alone in this experience - and there is an entire aro-ace community out there that have found a sense of belonging and pride in their identity.
If you’re interested, I’d like to share some resources with you. We had a special guest, Jessica, share her experience with asexuality on the forums, which you can read about here. There’s also a worldwide online asexual community (see here), and a group of Australian communities (see here), you can explore. Also, once you've turned 18, you might like to check out PeerChat as another way to connect with others who can relate to your experiences and chat it out with someone.
Thank you again for sharing your story with us, we are all here for you 😊
