introduction
hey everyone!
i just joined the lovely community on here.
I’m diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, anankastic personality disorder, other specified feeding or eating disorder, and generalised anxiety disorder, I want to use this platform to share my recovery journey and general mental health updates.
although the past 3 years have been chaotic, i’ve met so many amazing professionals and people who have helped me throughout my mental health journey. along the way, I’ve grown so much as a person and gained new skills. through meeting other people who have a lived experience of mental illness, i’ve become a more empathetic person who has gained new layers of understanding. therapy has been such a saviour. learning how to manage my symptoms everyday by using DBT skills has changed my life. my mental health conditions took so much away from me, it was almost like i died. i lost who i was as a person, my friends, my dreams, my hobbies etc. the prospect of recovering from my mental illnesses seemed distant and unattainable, but now I find hope in the skills I’ve learnt through DBT, which have become an integral part of my daily life and prevent me from using dangerous coping strategies. I really want to build a life worth living - a life outside of my diagnoses.
