NAIDOC 2024

NAIDOC-Week-Poster-2024-Web-RGB-A3.png

NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, achievements and history. This year’s theme, ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud’, encourages First Nations peoples to share their stories and wisdoms with pride.

Ways you can celebrate NAIDOC:

  • Follow some First Nations media 📽️ ABC Indigenous and NITV are both trusted sources of information and hosts of Indigenous-led shows and entertainment.
  • Support First Nations art, music and content creators and collaborators. Have a look at Indigenous-owned clothing or accessory brands, art exhibitions, or search ‘NAIDOC 2024’ on Spotify 🎵
  • Learn about the past and living experience of culture. You might want to do some research into what Country you are on, or see if there are any local events you can sign up to.
  • Have a read of Britt’s Weekly Wellbeing on Growing Up Aboriginal from last year 😊
  • Read up on ReachOut’s NAIDOC 2024 pieces!

Other ways to be a good ally:

  • Listen and learn from Indigenous perspectives and engage in respectful dialogue, so you can gain a deeper understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories and experiences.
  • Actively challenge stereotypes and racism, advocate for justice and equality, and amplify Indigenous voices to create positive change.
  • Try to create inclusive spaces where Indigenous perspectives are valued and respected, not only during NAIDOC but throughout the year.

What other ways are you celebrating NAIDOC Week?
