Hey @Blueberry_Pidgeon,
I would like to start off by welcoming you to ReachOut and thanking you for sharing what you have been going through. I’d like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the effort you have put into seeking support for yourself. I can see that you’re engaged with a psychiatrist and made an attempt to see a counsellor at the university. Help seeking can be incredibly tough for many, so you should be so proud of yourself! I can also hear that despite not wanting to leave your room, you have joined a club at uni, which is inspiring, motivating and absolutely amazing.
I can hear how difficult it has been for you to be away from your family and friends, including feeling isolated and lonely. This is completely normal and understandable. I am curious to know if you’ve spoken to your friends and family about how you’re feeling? Sometimes they can provide some helpful advice and support.
I can see that you’re also seeing a psychiatrist and am wondering if you have an appointment coming up to see them? Often seeing your treating professional about what you’re going through can be really useful, particularly if you’re on medication as they can make changes if needed.
It sounds like uni has also been tough for you and I can see that you’ve been struggling with getting to class and engaging in study, and are considering dropping out. Many young people can reciprocate what you’re going through as uni and study can be so difficult to manage. While you have done an excellent job at seeking support for yourself, I am also wondering if you have done any self care activities recently? In case you are interested in additional support, I encourage you to connect with Headspace who provide free online, in person, and phone support and counselling to young people 12 - 25 and their families and friends. Another service I encourage you to contact is Kids Helpline, which is a free 24/7 phone and online counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25.
I’d also like to share these articles with you on Self Care - If you’re looking for ideas on activities, Isolation and Loneliness - this topic includes a number of different articles that share tips and advice, and Thinking about dropping out - which has some helpful considerations and advice around this decision.
An email has also been sent to you so please keep an eye out for it!
