@ruthxxx it is really awesome that you're spending your holiday trialling out what self-care works best for you. Kudos on continuing to experiment and reaching out for some extra advice even though you've had some bad experiences. My favourite form of self-care has probably becoming tidying my room while I have a face mask/hair mask in. Having a tidy space has such a positive impact on my mood throughout the week so it really sets me up to feel content for a week ahead and I find cleaning can be pretty therapeutic. The hair and face masks just help me to feel pampered, I also love giving myself a pedicure! It is important to note that self-care can also be saying no and setting boundaries with people. I think this could be important for you because you said that you have become concerned with everyone else's opinion and thoughts about yourself. Perhaps you could have a conversation with those affecting you about voicing their opinions on you. Would this be something you could try? Let us know how you go xx

@Blurryphaced I definitely agree with @Claire-RO about taking a step back if he is not respecting your feelings. Although it is an awkward conversation, it sounds like you need to set a clear boundary with your friend. You could say something like 'I really enjoy your company but I do not want to pursue this romantically'. Setting boundaries is very important for both yourself and your friend so he knows where he stands with you. Do you think this is something you could try? Talk soon xx

Who is a role model in your life? What have they done that has made a positive difference in your or someone else's life? My close friend is my role model - she is a huge advocate for aboriginal people and juggles being a new mum/studying her masters/taking care of herself with exercise and clean eating. She always encourages me to chase my dreams and often invites me to things to get me more motivated/active in the community. What are some qualities in yourself that can make you a role model for others? I think my best quality that could make me a role model is my resilience - it can show other people that despite challenges in life there is always a way to overcome it

Hi @JuniperFliesAway while I cant particularly relate to what you're going through I wanted to say how awesome it is that you're discovering yourself, talking about and thinking about opening up about how you are feeling and who you are. My only suggestion would be to start by coming out to someone you really trust and will create a safe space for you to do this. Maybe your sister if you are close? It could be good to have her as a support if you are nervous about coming out to your parents as well. Keep up us updated and sending you lots of hugs! xx

Hey @Jess1-RO thanks for your response! Its week 10/13 at the moment but mid semester break is next week so it’s been a long haul! I’ve currently written down the days I plan to jump on RO in my diary and the time I plan to spend - even if it’s just 10 minutes to respond to replies or an hour if I have more time. The visual prompt in my diary keeps my accountable on those days. Goal setting is definitely something we could look at doing on the forum if this hasn’t been done in a while! How have you been? Talk soon xx

What helps you prepare yourself for a successful study session? I always feel most prepared when I am in the library and have at least a few hours to study. I feel a lot less pressure to rush my study and take breaks when needed but I also get way more done in the library because I have less distractions/am motivated to study by those around me. What do you enjoy most about your studies at the moment? That they're almost done!!! After 7 years I am 5 weeks away from graduating.

@Bee & @lr8991 thank you for your honesty with how you are doing. You are both amazing. R U OK today? I am having a really good day today How would you approach a conversation with someone you’re concerned about? I try to approach someone really genuinely with things like 'I've been thinking about you lately' or 'It's been a while since we've talked' to open up the conversation. Do you have an example of a time where someone asked if you were okay? How did it help to have someone check in with you? I had a tough day on the 10 year anniversary of my cousin passing away and my friend checked on me to see how I was and if I was doing anything that day. It made me feel connected and I was grateful she asked if I had plans that day as she knew I would need to keep busy. It was really thoughtful and I appreciated the small gesture.
