Or join us on Thursday the 20th of April 8pm AEST to talk about all things financial.
Haha not really. I guess the most obvious way to save money is to not spend it, so that's my two cents (pun very much intended).
Do you have any money saving tips?
My money saving tips is having two interest gaining savings accounts that have no fees and having automatic deposits each week into them to stop me having to think about saving. I also started to do a program called Savers Plus which is a matched savings program of up to $500 for educational costs. You can find out more about the program and how it works by clicking here.
We have one of those tins that you can't open again that we put spare change in. I reckon that's good over a long period of time 🙂
The attached link is a great start, but to save money I would always pay myself first. What I mean by that is work out what you are savings for and whenyou want to achieve that goal. When I get paid every week or fortnight I would set this money aside first. In a lot of cases you pay all your bills first then whatever left over you save. What I’m suggesting is that you turn this around by saving first.

That's a great idea @Noel-Moneycare 🙂 I will be adopting that policy myself.
Do you have any money saving tips?
I use an app that takes a little bit off every purchase i make. So like if i buy a coffee for 3.50, it rounds it up to 4 bucks and saves the extra 50 cents. I never really notice the little bit extra that comes out of my account, but it all adds up to quite a bit of extra saved money! 🙂

What can you do to get help if things get a bit out of control?
Don't panic! Debts can be talked about with the people you owe money to (Creditors). So get a bit of advice from @Noel-Moneycare about how to have that conversation and work out what to do next. Definitely don't get an expensive loan to pay off a bill, you'll end up paying a loooot more than you need to in interest!
Talk to a Financial Counsellor, they offer a free confidential service to people in financial hardship. Financial Counsellors will explain what options are available to you and you then make a decision that best suits your needs. Please call 1800 007 007 and they will contact you with the nearest service available throughout Australia.
What's the importance of budgeting, do you do it and how do you do it?
I find budgeting to be important so I can see what my important expenses are (eg. rent, electricty, mobile, etc) and make sure they are covered by my income first before I allocate spending and saving money. I like to do an excel document so I don't have to do too much math and I know exactly how much I have left over each week.
What's the importance of budgeting, do you do it and how do you do it?
Well, it sounds important. I don't personally do it, but I feel like I should probably learn about it to help out future me 😛
What are some of the challenges you face in terms of money?
Some of the challenges I find is budgeting when you have shift work and are uncertain each week how many hours you will be getting. It can make it difficult to project a future budget. I also have a habit of loving to op shop a bit too much or treating myself to unnecessary items, definitely need to reign in my self-control over shopping.
What are some of the challenges you face in terms of money?
Finding a job that fits around school and homework and soccer etc. is my main challenge. I'm not actively looking for one at the moment, but I know I will be soon, and I'm not super sure how to go about it.
Its difficult trying to balance school and work and finding part time work can be a real pain. The challenge we all have is have to live within our means, having an understanding of where you are at this moment in time and what money you need to live. Being able to make informed financial decisions about money and avoid the pitfalls of instant credit is important.
