Can pets help you make lifestyle changes?
Short answer:
Yep!
Longer answer:
It depends on the lifestyle change, but they can definitely help! Particularly things like being more active, knowing your dog, sheep or cheetah needs a daily walk can help you get out there even when you might not feel like doing it yourself.
Pets are also good because they cut back a bit of stress from our day to day lives, less stress means more room for our brains to process problems and that in turn can lead to us having the energy for change 🙂

There are apparently reptile cafes and teahouses in Japan! Anyone fancy wrapping a friendly snake around them? 😛

@khaleesi_18 Pets can definitely faciliate friendships and open communication, etc. Even if you just get chatting to someone else walking their dog in the park, it becomes a way to socialise I think because you all share these animals in common!

@j95 They have them sometimes during school holidays in shopping centres here where the kids (and adults too!) can go and interact with the reptiles. I remember having this huge snake wrap it's way around my neck and back and then down my arm and made himself quite at home in my hangbag! lol! 😄

I have so many stories about Maggie I could share! The list is endless, we'd be here all night. I remember a few years back though, it was Christmas and a couple of days before Christmas day, we woke up to half the presents scattered around the house that had been under the tree and wrapping paper EVERYWHERE! 😛

And also that any time I wash my dogs they go and roll in the dirt to get dry... and they just get even dirtier again. And also that sometimes when I take them to the beach they go and hang out with other people and I'm like ah hang on, you're with me

Haha yeah @j95 except stringy cheese instead of spagetti and the hedgehogs would eat much faster too 😛

We have time for one more question!
Do you have a cool/funny story about a pet that you’d like to share?
Also i noticed someone put in a really tricky one at the end of our question list! Here's that question " What can you do if you want the mental health benefits of having a pet, but cannot commit to the lifespan or costs of a pet at the moment?"
That's a very important question to ask and I'd like whoever asked it to make a post to talk more about it!

I have sooo many stories about my dogs!!One of them is that Bailee isn't very good with walks and pulls really badly cause she just wants to run. One day I was out walking and she was basically dragging me, someone I know walked past and said "are you ok? Looks like you might be having trouble" and I was like "nah mate it really is fine" and the minute I said she ran for her life, snapped the lead and I was chasing her down the street while this other person just stood there are laughed at me.

Also this video of a grumpy hedgehog
Here's my story:
Once upon a time i had Pet Green treefrogs- they now live with a friend of mine in a giant enclosure and they're 12 years old!
That's not the story though. When i kept them, they had a big tank in my bedroom. It was full of tasty food, fresh water, a nice warm light and a hot rock. Everything a frog could want. Despite that, they always escaped at night to hunt moths or literally anything else that came anywhere near them, they'd always go back into their tank in the morning, so eventually i just gave up on trying to keep them in there and let them roam my room freely. That was all good, except one of their favourite things to do seemed to be landing on my face in the middle of the night. There's nothing quite like being woken up by a cold wet green treefrog landing on your face after dropping from the ceiling.

you know how when you were in primary school and when a dog somehow got in the school it was the biggest deal ever?? I used to live near a primary school and one day Friday got out and ended up in the oval with a bunch of school kids, lapping up all this attention, didn't really want to go home- Mark as New

haha @j95! Our old ble heeler dog, Misty that I had as a kid, did something similar to my mum once, walking. Except I was a baby then and she was pushing me in the stroller and going down a (small) hill and she let go of the stroller in alarm and it just went diving down the hill...I was okay in the end 😛

@Mona-RO no, but I've been meaning to! I think I have a bit of an allergy though - my eyes water and nose runs when I'm around animals that shed, including cats (I've always had dogs that don't shed so that might be why I'm a bit sensitive?), so I've been a bit hesitant even though I love cats!
My boyfriend's family has a cute rabbit that sheds so much - I never really realised it was that much of a problem until I was cuddling with her on the couch, and started coughing and wheezing...!
