Holiday theme art & craft

I noticed we have a few art threads but I thought, being Christmas and other celebrations, it might nice if people made some decorations in the theme of the holiday they celebrate, then share a picture, what they used and how they made it. Maybe we can try each other's ideas 🙂

Today I made a mini Christmas tree (not the best picture)

image.jpeg

Tools:

Green tinsel

Mini Baubles

Craft glue

Wooden cone (10 cents from the recycle store, you can use anything that resembles a cone or even slightly decreases in size as it goes up, best if it's wood)

A small star (I haven't added that on yet, I need to find one)

Instructions:

1. Cover the cone in glue

2. Wrap tinsel around the cone, only doing one layer at first and increasing as you go down (It helps make the tree larger on the bottom, like a Christmas tree)

3. Attach baubles by putting glue on the main circle part and sticking them to the tinsel. I found that it simply wouldn't work if I put the thread on and tried to hang them, but it looks good and less messy without the string.

4. Get some left over tinsel and stuff it in the top of the cone, if it has a hole, so that it sticks up and gives that triangle sort of shape.

5. Put the star on (somehow, I'm yet to try it)

6. Display somewhere nice like a dining table or tv cabinet

My tree was around 15 cms tall but it really depends on how big your cone/base peice is)

@j95 this is a brilliant thread idea, and I love the look of that Christmas tree!

Does wrapping presents count as craft? If so, I've done that, though not very artfully. For some reason, the wrapping never looks as well done as I intend!

It so does @letitgo, wrapping presents is an art! Only the most skilled can accomplish it! 😛

@N1ghtW1ng @letitgo it IS an art. I love when it's so perfectly wrapped that you don't even want to open it Smiley Indifferent

@Bree-RO I have that problem so often with everything haha. The worst is when food is so beautifully presented that I don't wanna eat it but... it's food... and I must eat all the food! 😛

I love christmas craft! Never too old!

Every year, I make everyone in my family little christmas tags for their presents. Last year, I bought basic brown tags from spotlight and made little 1cmX1cm stirofoam cubes wrapped in red cellophane as miniture presents to stick on the front. They were so cute!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

@j95 ah that looks so festive! 😄 Maybe I'll try making one on the weekend (and if it doesn't turn out too bad I'll post a pic here)

Anyone else got some awesome craft ideas?

This is an awesome idea @j95. I have a mini Christmas tree on my desk, but I cheated because we bought it from the supermarket last year 😛
