Re: Introduce yrself here September 2013!

Hey people,

My name is Liam.

1. What are you grateful for?

I don't like the word grateful. It denotes a notion that I deserve what I have been gifted with in the first place. If I were grateful for example that I were still alive, then I would have to admit that I deserve life in the first place, rather than be excited with the surprise being alive has given me.

2. How'd you find us?

I've looked in the past for websites saying that they help people with mental illness, and never found any actual help. Perhaps this time, you can persuade me there are people out there willing to share and provide support.

3. What's the last thing you did really well?

I'm going to put the last three things I did really well. One of them was a stellar game of touch footy last week. The next was the last gig I had, and the last was just in general the novels I've been writing.

4. Indoors or outdoors?

I'm probably over thinking this question. I much prefer to be outdoors, as long as I am not getting sunburnt, but I spend most of my time indoors, and I am probably more comfortable there, particularly when the black dog sinks its teeth in.

5. Number one tip for feeling good?

I'm afraid I don't have one. Its been a long time since I felt "good".

Hi @tesla-weapon

All are welcome! — just many of the resources are focused on younger people, so we might not be able to help with more adult topics, like "As a CEO, I have to fire 10,000 people next week and it makes me anxious; what do I do?" — but even then our tips on building better coping skills are probably still useful! I had a look at the fact sheet. Its all stuff I've been doing for years.

Probably the best thing I like to do is talk about stuff, and have someone challenge my crappy excuses. But its hard to find people to talk to about problems.

I do have specialists to talk to, but its not nearly regular enough for me. Everything costs money. If money was not an issue I would be a lot further along on my journey.

Hey I'm Jess. I'm 18 years old... and a dork at the best of times Smiley Happy

I'm Grateful for: Food, television, My family, The power of language, the beauty of music, The fact that colour exists, the fact that peanut butter and chocolate combine so beautifully together, My 10 year old stuffed teddy (don't judge me Smiley Tongue)

How did I find this?: Internet perusing... basically I've decided that maybe...meeting people who have experienced the same things that I have will help me...put things into perspective. And allow myself to... live.

The last thing I did really well: Annoyed my brother, HD'ed an assignment..... awwyyeah. Perfected my shower singing voice. Noted the joys of burning food. Learnt how to sing a song in italian to make an elderly lady smile.

Outdoors or indoors: Indoors. Indoors has a tv and internet. But I dabble in outdoors. Love me a good hike.

Tip for feeling good: Convince yourself that there are things to feel good about. Or as a last resort watch reruns of "Whose line is it anyways" until you laugh so hard you feel like you are on the verge of peeing yourself. Works every time.

1. What are you grateful for?

This awesome cup of Jasmin Gree Tea I have to wake me up and keep my hands warm :3

2. How'd you find us?

Just  googling around. Only recently diagnosed so I found this while looking for information

3. What's the last thing you did really well?

My manager came to me yesterday and said he's gotten quite a few calls by customers regarding my phone manner and attitude, and how they're impressed. That made my week actually

4. Indoors or outdoors?

Outdoors when it's nice and cold and you can rug up, indoors when it's a ridiculous 40 degree Australian day

5. Number one tip for feeling good?

Not too sure on this one at the moment, still trying to work it out for myself. A good sleep and a good attitude help though

Hey, I'm usually called Loz. I'd rather not give my real name. I'm 16 and people think I’m the ‘Golden Child’ but I guess they don’t know me as well as they think.

1. Gratefulness is a really good concept. I have so much to be grateful for, so I'll list the most prominent things. My family, the amazing opportunities I've been given, Girl Guides (I'm a Guiding nerd), my friends that stick by me (regardless), and the fact I wasn't born with any chronic or terminal illnesses.

2. I did a project on RO.com in Year 9 and when things started to go downhill, I thought I'd find you again.

3. The last thing I did really well was probably my dad's birthday card. It was pretty cool.

4. Indoor/Outdoor- I spend most of my time indoors, but that’s because indoors is certainty. I know where things are, what’s going on physically. Psychological/mental stuff, I fail. I discovered I’m not observant at all (most unfortunately, the hard way).

5. Tip for feeling good – I guess I usually just have to remember everything I have that's good. Or I just remember this quote - "Life is unfair but remember: sometimes it is unfair in your favour". It isn't just or right, but that's life.

Such a long time ago now, from my sister I think it was...
3. What's the last thing you did really well?

Teaching my little sister trigonometry.
4. Indoors or outdoors?

Definitely outdoors, no matter the weather there is always some beautiful sensation that you can get fom being outside that makes you feel that much more alive.
5. Number one tip for feeling good?

Take a break and do something that you love doing, it'll help clear your mind and leave you in a better state of mind.
