Tell me three honest things...

Whenever I talk to someone new I always ask them to tell me three honest things about themselves - it doesn't matter what it is, it just has to be real and honest! It can be a thought, a memory, something you like, a fear...

My three honest things are...

  1. I've had a book (An Abundance of Katherines by John Green) sitting on my bedside table for three months now. I keep telling myself i'm going to read it, but I know it wont happen for another few months... or more.
  2. I have a bad habit of listening to gossip... Sometimes it's really hard when you're sitting with people to "block it out". I have to always remind myself not to pay attention to it. We shouldn't judge others just based on someone elses thoughts or experiences!
  3. I still check the wardrobe for the boogeyman sometimes after watching a scary movie Smiley Tongue

@lanejane I borrowed An Abundance of Katherines from my local library the other day. Here's hoping it's a good read (I've really enjoyed his other books)

1. I'm almost an adult but still love playing with kids toys. No joke, I actually play with soft toys and stuff 😛

2. I have my future kid's names picked out and often think about what sort of people they might turn out to be.

3. I will eat a family sized block of chocolate in one sitting if you let me. Never give me chocolate haha 😄

hey @lokifish

can you tell me if it's good? i'm only a few pages in but if you say it's worth the read maybe i can push myself to read some more. i've read pretty much all his others and loved them. will grayson will grayson was probably my favourite because of tiny. not sure if you've read that one?

i think there are lots of adults who play with toys. cars, phones, computers... they are all toys too in some sense. your toys are just softer! haha. do whatever makes you happy i reckon... (like me watching spongebob squarepants tonight)

i have often thought of names i'd like to give my kids if i have any. if i have two girls maybe i'll call one lane and one jane Smiley Tongue

chocolate is the best. i'm a cadbury top deck girl... or if im feeling adventurous that marvellous chocolate is always good!

Hmm~my three honest things would be:

  1. Every time I donate blood, I end up overindulging/overeating as much food as I can to "gain" back my blood. I'm pretty sure that's not how it works but I do it anyway Smiley Tongue
  2. I can be incredibly unforgiving Smiley Indifferent
  3. Standing around in Dymocks is a hobby of mine Smiley Happy

hey @Myvo

it's awesome that you give blood - and regularly. if you're eating after doing it then you deserve to treat yourself. i'm not sure if that's how it works either but we can just pretend it does Smiley Very Happy

your second honest statement made me think lots! sometimes its hard to forgive others if they have hurt you or done something you're not okay with. it's okay to feel like that. as long as you're not holding on to any hurt or anger, because then you might end up not feeling so great. Smiley Sad

dymocks sounds like a good place to take time out to me Smiley Tongue

Ok three honest things:

When I was in grade 3 I got in trouble for not doing my maths homework so I wasnt allowed to borrow from the school library. I reaaaally wanted 3 goosebumps books, so I stole them. I still have them and read them, 10 years later. That was more of a confession.

I am scared of the dark (I can sleep with the light off its ok!!) But if somebody asks me get something from the car or put the rubbish out I don't do it or I make sure somebody stands at the front door to watch me.

I talk to myself alot. This isnt really an honest thing because everyone sees me do it haha. I tell myself what I'm doing and what I'm going to do next. So I'll be walking down the street going "going to the supermarket now to buy vegetables for dinner I need....."

@j95 a fellow self-talker! I chastise myself all the time or correct myself out loud, around other people, always. Sometimes loudly. And you're definitely not the only one, I do the mad dash too. Especially after all the lights are turned off but I have to leave my room. I run as fast as I can back into my bed before I can relax again.
@E_Rose I'm walking into things too. When I do I give it a good pat and then say hello before walking off. And people notice, ah well!
@lanejane this is an awesome idea for a thread! And I admit, I listen to gossip too. But that's because I'm always listening and it amuses me.

1. At school once someone called me a rude name and I shrugged it off because I didn't actually know what it meant. I found out ages later that it basically meant stupid.
2. When I'm writing a post, I delete and rewrite stuff to make sure that it makes sense to other people... and because I kept making mistakes.
3. I mimic stuff I see and hear. My personality, body language, voice, changes all the time because when I watch or read or listen to different things I take elements of a character from that and use it in my life.

So basically I'm really weird and probably crazy. And I couldn't be happier!

Hey @N1ghtW1ng

People who call other people rude names are not worth listening to anyway, so i'm glad you didn't know what it meant and shrugged it off! I hope it didn't get to you later on when you found out what it meant. You don't seem stupid to me at all Smiley Happy

I rewrite and edit my posts all the time. This whole thread was originally a completely different topic and i'm glad I changed it because it's helped me to get to know you guys.

& I think it's cool that you pick up bits and pieces of things you see and hear everyday. You're obviously really observant and it probably helps you to show different parts of your personality.

@lanejane

To be honest, I don't mind when people call me weird or stupid. I'm sure they have reasoning for believing such things. Doesn't mean it's true but at times I can be a bit of an idiot, and I am most certainly weird. They probably just caught me at a bad time. It didn't get to me later on... well it did a little, but it was forever ago. I was really thinking about all the comeback I could have said. Robot tongue
Anyways... People can call me what they want, it's not my problem, I'm not going to change to make them happy.

@j95 it's funny that you still have the books. that's a pretty good one!

do you ever do the mad dash in the dark too? like if you get up to do something in the middle of the night and its scary you run really, really fast to and from wherever you're going... i run like the speed of light. the faster you get back to bed the better.

heaps of people at my work talk to themselves all the time. i think it just helps some people to think more clearly by saying whats going on in their head out loud. i only talk to myself when i'm sleeping which is creepy Smiley Indifferent

@lanejane Such an interesting thread idea! I can completely understand the book thing, I have a tendency to do that too

My three honest things would be:

1. I have a fear of birds (especially when they fly), so I often zig zag around pigeons when I walk, looking rather silly Smiley LOL

2. I have a habit of walking into doors and walls because I'm super clumsy

3. I enjoy baking cakes but whenever I do it always seem to be around 10pm when no one is around to eat it while it's nice and warm Smiley Sad

hartley_
hartley_Posted 30-03-2015 12:02 AM

1. I am scared of falling down the stairs and smashing my teeth

2. I think I have an actual addiction to changing my hair and I should probably just buy a whole bunch of wigs

3. Most of the time I feel like my dog understands what Im saying and how Im feeling / I tend to get along with animals really well to the point where its like a special connection/I am the dog whisperer and have a dog and cat radar

i think birds can be really scary too! chickens used to really creep me out haha.
