NMBA English language requirements

I am currently a year 12 student, planning to go to TAFE after graduating. I decided to study Diploma of Nursing and use that to study Bachelor of Nursing for university. However, for one of the course entry requirements, it says that I have to meet the NMBA English language requirements. Do I automatically meet the requirements if I am an Australian citizen? I wasn't born in Australia and I did not take any English proficiency tests as my parents applied for citizenship while I was under 16. However I have studied in Australia for already 4 years which is still not enough for me to be excluded from taking an English proficiency test (unless I am, since I'm a citizen). I would appreciate any help, thank you very much.

Hey @bdm0520 , I can't give too much advice either except maybe that it might depend on whether English is your first or second language and how long you've been in Australia. But talking to your year coordinator, careers advisor or even the contact for the TAFE course you're interested in might give you some clarity! As for the tests themselves, a lot of them have sample papers online that you can look at if you do need to do one after all. Good luck with your journey into nursing ðŸ˜Š

Thank you! I'll book an appointment with my school's careers advisor and I'll ask them about this. I also checked some sample papers online, I'll surely try and practice with those when I can. I appreciate your help!

Hello @bdm0520, thanks for sharing with us here. Sounds like you have thought a lot about what you would like to study and what it might take to get into these courses. It sounds like you are a bit unsure as to the exact pathway into the TAFE course, which is understandable as it sounds like you are in a bit of a unique situation. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to provide specific advice for your current situation, however it sounds like your year 12 coordinator would be able to help you with this. They are often aware of the various entry pathways and eligibility requirements for further study. Have you had the chance to discuss this with them at all?

I didn't have the chance to yet, but I'll surely try and book an appointment with my school's career advisor regarding this. Thank you so much!
